I love this banjo
I have owned no other banjos that I can compare this one to, but I have played guitar and bass in many bands for a few decades. I’m very pleased with the workmanship, playability, and sound quality of this banjo, and as I’m getting better at playing it I’m not feeling in any hurry to get a more expensive one.

Great value for the price 🎸
I’m new to banjo …The overall quality is pretty decent for a little over $200. . The notes ring bright, not muffled, and sustain. I like that it comes with the tools to make adjustments if needed. Wasn’t necessary, but it’s always a good idea to make sure the screws are properly tightened. I wouldn’t recommend messing with the drum unless you know what you’re doing and have a drum dial. The strap didn’t come with swivel hooks to attach it to the hooks on the instrument. No big deal; I improvised with para-cord. I think the the action (Distance from top of the frets to string) is good …No complaints. At the frets closest to the bridge, the action measured two dimes.The clip for the digital tuner was broken and I did not want to return the entire kit over such a small issue. I messaged the seller and they quickly sent me a replacement. Kudos on customer service.

Le bridge semble un peu fragile, encore là un remplacement très abordable mais pas urgent. La touche et l’intonation sont bonnes à la grandeur du manche. Le banjo garde bien l’accordement.Contrairement à d’autres critiques lues ici, l’emballage était solide et aucune pièce n’était manquante. J’ai même eu la surprise d’une clé d’ajustement qui n’était pas annoncée.Très content de mon achat de ce banjo de débutant. Je retrouve le son que j’espérais.

Great mini banjo Vangoa!!
I have been thinking about getting this banjo a few months ago.I travel often and normal banjo is uncomfortable for travel. I decided to buy a mini banjo, i chose for Vangoa! As soon as i got the banjo i knew i had made good decision. The banjo is a Wonderful musical instrument! It is made of beatiful wood , is really light, and well balanced.I dont have a distinct style of music.,i play on a banjo everything, bluegrass, folk, jazz and classical music , but only at a basic level and for pleasure.This banjo Vangoa reall suits me! Im convicend that it will satisfy even the experienced players. The banjo has a beautiful full sound.Im really glad i have it! I have been playing the 5 string banjo for over 50 years! If you play ukulele or smaller instruments- this is just lovely! It came set up with so many little extras! I opened the package on the porch, tuned it and immediately got to playing! I have a full sized banjo that I love but I sold because I’m built like a corgi- so- these smaller instruments are simply perfect!!!!! Made to travel! If you are on the fence- hop on off into the Banjo side! So worth it! I’d buy it again and might as a gift!

My son wanted a banjo for Christmas to learn to play. I picked this one since it came with a tuner, strap, picks, etc. I haven’t opened it all the way up (it’s very nicely packaged in a appropriate sized box with cushioning foam), but I noticed it didn’t have any “beginner kit” directions (even like how to string it). I feel the need to buy a Banjo for beginners book (additional purchase).

I bought this for my grandson, he is extremely talented with many instruments and absolutely loves this banjo. It is well constructed, excellent craftsmanship and easy to handle. He loves the carry case as well. The only concern I had was the box it was shipped it appeared open and retapped and was crushed. We were thrilled the damage to the box appeared not to damage the banjo. This most likely was not your company’s fault but the box was really much larger than necessary which made it less strong as there was little or no packing material included. Having said that, the banjo is beautiful and loved

Happy Beginner Banjo Player here!
As a true beginner it’s hard to say if I’m giving a knowledgeable review. I can say since delivery I’ve been very impressed with the banjo itself. It seems well made and it’s holding its tuning well. I’ve only needed to slightly tune once out of the three times I’ve checked it. This makes me really happy. I had bought my kids electric guitars several years back and the tuning pegs were so loose you had to tune them over and over. I’m learning just a couple cords while strumming so no issues there. It is a small neck so my bigger fingers have to be placed carefully to not touch other strings. But that was about my choice, not the instrument. I love my banjo so far. I’ve wanted one and to learn to play for decades now. I’m very happy with my purchase, its nice build, all it comes with (simple cords manual would be an awesome addition), and price make it very worthwhile. I’ll update if anything changes.

A killer little banjo for the money!
This is an amazing little instrument! The fit and finish is something you might expect on a much more expensive instrument. I’ve been loving playing it for the past few days since I got it and my grandson, who is six, has picked it up and expressed a real interest. It is just his size and I can see why he likes it …… I love it myself! If you buy this banjo and have doubts about it, take it to a banjo player. I promise he’ll be amazed!

This banjo is a clear winner! Dude! This is a fantastic little banjo! I’ve owned a nice epiphone 5 string and when I was young I played my Dads Vega with a lamb skin head so I got experience. This Vangoa is a surprisingly loud banjo. The details are clean and very professional. I cant find one fault in the craftsmanship. The tuners are tight. The fifth string tuner is a tight geared tuning peg. It tuned up real easy. The 5th string is a little touchy usually but this thing tuned right up. This is a perfect instrument if you travel like me on an airplane or for a kid. This banjo seems 100% fantastic! I am so pleased, and the price?! awesome! This is a homerun! Buy it you wont regret it!

The reason for less stars is that it was missing the finger picks and the small equipment bag, cleaning cloth and the strap is totally wrong for a banjo and can not be attached so it is useless. . Updated the rating. After contacting the seller the missing items where promptly shipped. The Banjo holds the tuning well.

Nice little Banjo
I ordered mine last week and i received it a day earlier than anticipated. You do get everything you need to start out strumin “Oh Susanna” right off the bat.The Banjo appeared to be made well and sturdy but does need tuning when you receive it. The little tuner was a little difficult to use but once you get the hang of it, its a bit easier. instructions could be a bit better as to what the settings do.However, upon receiving mine one of the tuning keys on the banjo wobbled around and wouldn’t tighten the string and so i had to return it.i contacted the seller who reached out immediately and we conversed back and forth for a bit. very nice individual and i feel bad for leaving them a 1 star on seller feedback as they tried to rectify the issue. i will see if i can go back and change that as they certainly do not deserve the frustration i had.All in all its a good beginner banjo.

This is a great little 5 string banjo ukulele. it has the sound of a ukulele which doesn’t sound like a quality banjo, never the less is a very pleasant sounding instrument. For a small child wanting to learn to play the banjo, this might be the right size to start out with. If your an adult wanting to learn, it really is to small to try to learn on. For an experienced banjo player, this little instrument is a lot of fun to play.I had to move the bridge back about an inch to correct the intonation and tune it but very little else to start playing it. You won’t need to take it to a professional to set it up. quick tip. measure the distance from the nut to the 12th fret and then move the bridge so there is the same distance between the 12 fret and the bridge. Then tune the strings and start playing.I bought it to take on a cruise, just to keep my fingers in condition without having to lug around 20 lbs of banjo and case. After the cruise, I have a grandchild or two that may want to learn to play.

Absolutely perfect!
For my first banjo, I wanted an instrument that was somewhat light, had a 5th string tuning peg that didn’t slip out of tune all the time, a resonator and one that had a decent sound. I thought the best way was to buy it from a music store, but I never got to that. I watched the video on this one, read the reviews, and just ordered it. When it came, I had to put the bridge on and tune it up. At some point, I’ll let a professional check it out, but for now it’s perfect to learn on. It has a great sound! I am very, very pleased with my purchase!

This is a great banjo for beginners, especially for the price and all that it comes with. There is a small amount of set-up to do before you can start playing, but I was able to get the bridge set and the instrument tuned in about 10 minutes.One thing worth mentioning is that you will have to tune, and re-tune probably about 10-12 times before it holds the tuning. That is NOT the instrument’s fault though – it is simply the brand new strings stretching out as they sit.

Value for money and a perfect size for a child’s starter banjo
I’m an advanced banjo player and have owned and played many banjos over the decades. I bought the Vangoa mini because my grandsons, age 8 and 5, have expressed a desire to play but aren’t big enough to play my full-sized banjos. In other words, this is to be a starter banjo for these children, and as such it seems to me to be ideal. The banjo arrived fully set up; just needed to be tuned to be fully playable. On line there is information about setting the bridge and adjusting the tension rod, but none of that was necessary. This instrument was ready to play out of the box. Some reviews indicate that purchasers were beginners who bought this as an adult starter instrument. It is NOT recommended for that purpose: the spacing on the strings is not ideal for adult-size fingers, especially for a novice player. An advanced player might want this as a novelty instrument, but I see it as best for a child, and for this price, WOW! I couldn’t ask for more. The tone, by the way, is high pitched, plunky, and perfectly acceptable. I’m delighted with this purchase. Highly recommended for the purposes described above.

Good looking Banjo
New banjo player here. Right out of the box it was the beauty that surprised me. Loosened the strings just about one turn…stood up the bridge.Measured 13 and a smidge from the nut to the 12th fret, then made that same measurement from the 12th fret to the bridge and tuned the instrument.Ordered extra picks but not necessarily needed. This came with extra picks,shoulder strap adjusting tools and tuner.Very satisfied and very well worth the folding capital.

Vangoa Mini 5-String Banjo
I decided on the Vangoa because I love the resonance of mahogany. A Gold Tone Plucky was just more than I wanted to spend, plus I have a Ob 250-At that I love. The Vangoa is very nicely constructed and easy to setup, The sound it produces is very nice. Of course not as full with the volume of a full sized 5-string, but nice and clean. I wish it had better tuners, but for the price I can”t complain. My only complaint was the tailpiece, but I had read about it. Replaced it with a no knot I had. Would suggest if you buy spend about $20 for a no knot tailpiece.Enjoy,

first of all let me say overall i like this little banjo. the neck is nice the set up was good (no sharp frets etc.) now for the negative i dont like the tone its tinny and i think that is due to the pot size i wish i could find a small 5 string banjo with a full size head that doesnt cost a fortune. If your looking for a solo instrument that has great tone dream on. If you want a fun practice banjo for scales and such this is great.

It’s a fine instrument tunes up well with the included tuner (make sure it’s set to C for chromatic) all in all great for a beginner like myself. the one qualm I have is that the plastic finger picks included are a little too thick, this may be a personal thing but I would recommend getting some metal finger picks along with it.

Great for kids or traveling
I bought this for a 5-year-old child who is too small to hold a full-size banjo. It’s not perfect by any means, but at three or four hundred less than a Deering or Goldtone, I don’t expect perfection. It’s good enough for the price, and my child loves it. If it were mine, I would use it as a travel-sized instrument and be happy with it.I did not install or test the pickup because it is loud in the house without a pickup. The picks are guitar picks, so I recommend getting some finger picks for Banjo. Also, be sure to tune up to open C, which is 5 frets above open G. This will help with intonation.

Bought this for my 8 year old for his new adventure in playing the banjo. Even his banjo teacher was impressed. It sounds great. We have since upgraded to a bigger banjo for my son. And I play along with him on this little guy. And it plays well with his regular open backed banjo.

Great little instrument
I’m a guitar and mandolin player. I bought this because I wanted to learn a “little” banjo. The setup was easy with the bridge placement guide and I’ve been having a great time learning. I do a lot of jamming around the campfire and this is a great size for just popping in with my camping gear. If you are wanting to perform I would recommend getting a full sized banjo, but this is great for impromptu jam sessions.

I got this for my dad as a Father’s Day gift. He’s always wanted a banjo. He has been playing Guitar for 30+ years. I did a lot of research before buying this one. I was unsure at 1st because of price and the company being pretty new. But I’m so happy I got it and so is my dad. He loves it and hasn’t put it down since he got it a few days ago. It sounds really nice. The box did come like half open but it was all there and nothing broken. I would recommend getting different picks tho. They come with cheap ones. You’ll want the better metal ones. But other than that so worth it for the price I’m impressed

More legit a banjo than I am a banjoist.
I bought this with the intent of learning a new skill over this Covid winter. The banjo was received promptly and was securely packaged. I set the bridge and tuned it up. It seems legit. Since I don’t know how to play, I don’t have anything to compare it to. I do recommend this though. Not sure how it would compare to higher priced banjos.

Youll definatly get basic luthier practice
You will need to fully set up the instrument when it comes in. And if your intonation is a little off you’ll be adjusting the neck as well to adjust for an easier playing experience. This instrument has decent sound quality, the tuning does like to come loose a little, standard size, all equipment necessary for operation of the banjo was easy to install. If weight is an issue you can easily remove the resonator.

So the first mini banjo i received was defective; one of the frets sat too low causing a buzzing when i pressed down on D. I took it to a music shop because i couldn’t figure out what was wrong (I’m a self taught ukulele player, total newbie to the banjo). Music shop said I’d have to drop it off to fix, $65; half of what i paid. I was really bummed and almost dropped it off to get fixed except one of the reviewers on YouTube suggested i contact the seller because they were great. Great doesn’t begin to describe them. They were phenomenal, super responsive, apologetic and asked me to give them another chance. It was on backorder so they thoughtfully gifted me a music stand for all the inconvenience. I received the replacement mini banjo yesterday and it’s prefect. It tuned easily, frets were all level, strings sat 1/8″ off of bottom frets as my research had suggested. The only thing i had to do was move the bridge about half an inch and i was ready to go. It was also packaged with extra care, included a manual booklet and they kindly surprised me by adding an arm rest on the head. It’s the perfect beginner and travel instrument. I’ll be starting lessons in a couple weeks and can’t wait to do so. I highly recommend this company and their product. I’m sure it’s not as perfect as the more expensive ones but it’s definitely worth a lot more than the $120 i paid for the bundle (case, strap, tuner, cables to plug into speaker, tools to tighten head, extra set of strings and manual). This is a very happy customer!

Great starter banjo
This is a great banjo for a beginner. Good quality, good finish. I’m new to playing the banjo, but have played other instruments for years. I’m enjoying it lot and play every day. The tuner that comes with the kit is kind of marginal, but will get you by. However, I use a D’Addario guitar tuner on it which works great. But you can download a tuner for your phone or tablet too. The only only real negative was that it had a scratch on the lip of the resonator. I didn’t want to send it back for that, so I just took a sharpie to it and you can’t tell it was there.

Inexpensive but a quality product
This is a very nice instrument. It looks much more expensive than what it is. Just a couple of small blemishes, that you really have to search for, but in no way affect the playability of the instrument. A great starter banjo. Great for beginners or an inexpensive way to find out if the banjo is something you want to play!It came prestrung with the bridge the only assembly required. With the electronic tuner, it was very easy to tune.Overall a very nice starter banjo!

Beginner Banjo player here, so take that with a grain of salt. Had this Banjo for 2 weeks, been playing it everyday for an hour to 2 hours as my fingers get tougher. Seems easy to play, has stayed in tune no problem. Banjo is pretty, nice color, no scratches, easy to remove the back. Wish the arm rest was closer to the head, but will figure how to modify that to suit my needs. Over all this is a really nice Banjo for the price.

Nifty little travel banjo!
I got this for an upcoming trip on which it would be impractical to take a full-sized banjo. I didn’t have high expectations for the Vangoa but it really surprised me! I’m a clawhammer player and the strings are spaced far enough apart that playing it is not a different experience for the right hand, which is where the rubber meets the road for what is a practice instrument. The width of the strings at the bridge is 1 11/16″, which is exactly the same as a regular banjo.At the nut it unfortunately gets narrower than a regular banjo (13/16″ versus 1″), but you can’t have everything…certainly not at this price. It is still quite playable for the left hand. You may have to play some things you’d normally play with the left pinky with the ring finger instead; but since this is really just a keep-in-trim instrument it’s not that big a deal.The playing experience for the picking or clawhammering hand is about the same as a full-size when it’s tuned to C or B.The only beginner I would want to get this instrument is a very young child. A kid 10 and above, or an adult, should not be learning on this instrument, as the distance between the frets is way narrower than a full-size.There’s some other goodies included–gig bag, strap, contact pickup (!), plastic thumb and plastic finger picks, an extra set of strings–which one might get some use from even if they found the instrument useless.In terms of use for other than a practice instrument, its voice and size make it a lot like a mandolin or a ukelele. Uke players would probably enjoy this banjo a lot. So it could certainly find its way into a player’s arsenal as a novelty instrument.For what it is, to me it’s great value for the money.

Nice price and quality product
You must read the instructions and watch a few videos before trying to tune. We broke two strings and ended up taking it to a music store to have it restrung and tuned. It would have been nice if they would have told you the direction to tighten and loosen strings New string and tuning cost $40.

The banjo looks amazing. I’ve read about people receiving damage banjo’s and I can see why..When delivered on my porch ,the bandjo was hanging out of its box. The box was just a standard box that you would get a guitar or a bandjo in and it wasn’t taped shut in anyway to secure the box shut. Some of the extras like picks and wrenches were just thrown loose in the box and could have been lost.. luckily the bandjo was in a zippered bag lightly padded. No damage..other than that it’s been great.

Worth the price
Very well made. I did have to install the bridge and tune it but worth it. Only downside was it doesn’t come with a cradle strap. The strap I received looked more like it was for guitars.

Pleased with the entire kit, started playing within two hours after opening the box. Tuning the first time can be difficult if you have never played a guitar before, since I had a tuner that got me started.. then I used the tuner supplied which worked well. No instructions on how to install the pick-up, but looked online and found out you install it on the interior of the Remo head, just beneath the bridge. Sounds great and the pick-up worked really well so I can use it in the recording studio. Overall – five stars!

after a proper set up this banjo sounds very good. upgrading would enhance the banjo even more to compete with a more expensive banjo etc a better tail piece and upgraded bridge. tuners are fair and could stand a good replacement. zero glide nut would make a great add. however those add to the cost but well worth it. as it is the banjo sounds good.

Seems like a good choice for a beginner
Admittedly, I am still learning to play banjo; a more experienced player might know better. But this seems perfect for a beginner like me. First, the kit comes with everything you would need to get started (well, except lessons. But you’re on the internet–go find some!). The banjo was carefully packed and arrived in pristine condition. I did have to tighten the bolts on the resonator and placing the bridge was a bit tricky (again, I’m new to this) but this was basically ready to play right out of the box. Six weeks or so later and I am thrilled I chose to learn banjo and bought this one for my first. It sounds great (even my friend who has played guitar for decades says so), looks great, and I love playing it! My one small complaint is that the two nuts/clips for the strap have both come loose at different times, meaning I had to completely remove the resonator and retighten them. I wish those bolts were a little longer. So now I have to obsessively check them to make sure they’re still tight.

The banjo was missing a bridge. Inside the box was a plastic bag with random trash (eg., broken binder clip, clump of velcro, 6 in. length of string, small screw driver. Why?)Seems like the banjo is well-constructed, but it can’t be played without a bridge.Update: we contacted the seller who promised to send us a bridge. After two months I gave up waiting and left negative feedback. They contacted me and apologized and said their computer migration lost my message and would I give them another chance to make it right?Immediately sent a bridge and some strings as a gesture. Very attentive.Banjo is a good starter banjo and my daughter is very happy with it. Updated rating from 2 stars to 4.
