I purchased this for my 9 year old granddaughter after she pointed it out while looking at the Amazon catalog. It is a nice case. My only comment is that there are ALOT of plain crayons in this kit – guess I was thinking there would be more markers or other “tools”. This makes a great gift for any child. It includes 2 different types of markers, colored pencils, and crayons all neatly organized in a travel case. We can finally retire our bucket of old broken crayons and mismatched markers and caps. Having a spot for each item encourages organization. My son absolutely loves this. We got this for him when he started getting “homework” from preschool. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish Crayola would have thought about their color selections. They have full size and mini markers, and I wish instead of having two sizes for black, that they would offer other colors. I also wish there was a crayon sharpener/pencil sharpener for the crayons and colored pencils.

This is Crayola branded everything, meaning, these are not your standard cheap set of colors!
I have purchased other art boxes for our other daughter in the past and just was so unhappy with the quality. The colors were cheap, markers worked for a short spell, etc. This kit is the opposite of that, it is WONDERFUL! I gave this to my five year old for her birthday and she absolutely was elated. It came with the mini markers which are perfect for small hands, the taller markers, the mini colored pencils, and crayons of course. It also comes with a stack of white paper inside of the box which was nice, though I would still recommend getting more paper or coloring books as a part of a gift if you are gifting it. It is such a cute set and the box is RAINBOW for all the rainbow lovers out there. My daughter loves rainbows so this worked out wonderfully. Just buy it!

I’ve bought my two daughters lower quality plastic sets before at craft store-type places and the cost has ranged from $2-5. They always ended up falling apart (I guess that’s to be expected at such a cheap price). For Christmas this year, I decided to find a better quality set and I ended up purchasing two of the Crayola Premier Sets.First things first, what you get is what is pictured – the Inspiration Art Set, not the Premiere Set, which has scissors.The case is sturdy and it’s packed with the items your child will actually use, NOT things like the useless pastel chalk/crayons or cheap water color paint set like some other sets have. This set has crayons, small colored pencils, pipsqueak markers, regular markers, and sheets of drawing paper. And, of course, it’s the Crayola brand quality you know and trust.One thing should be noted…Christmas was less than a week ago and one of the clasps on my 11 year old’s Crayola case has already broken and fallen off. I contacted Crayola through their Facebook page and asked how to get a replacement, and they promptly replied requesting the model number and my mailing address. I’m assuming they are sending a replacement, and I will update when I know for sure.This set is nice and will certainly be perfect for any child who likes to draw or color. It may be better suited for a child who is able to take reasonably good care of it. My 10 and 11 year olds seem to enjoy their cases more than anything else they’ve received for Christmas this year, and that’s saying a lot!Edited to add: Crayola contacted me and they are indeed shipping me a new Inspiration Art Set to replace one daughter’s breaking case. They gave me the choice between a new set or same-value coupons for other Crayola products, and I chose to receive a new set since both daughters enjoy this set so much. What fantastic customer service!

Its decent and cute
The main reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the fact I was hoping for a sturdier case, from the images. The case feels like it was made out of firmer cardboard then they took a colored printed paper and glued it to the outside. If a child were to accidentally step on this thing, Im sure either the case will give in and whatever is breakable inside can easily be broken. The metal latches that help keep the case closed and the handle to hold it feel sort of cheat. Guess I was expecting something firmer, like maybe a hard plastic case or harder wood. Also the case I got was the one that has the rainbow color splash design. Bascially the two pics above the last image at the bottom on the left side of the page. It was not the White with the different painted drawings like in the main image. Incase if it matters to you. I like the rainbow splash one.Besides that everything that is on the inside of it is really nice. It comes with some blank white paper as well though I would rather trade that for a sharpener. But luckily I have one that can fit under the markers so that incase my kiddos need to sharper stuff they can. None of the crayons were broken, everything was sealed and very clean. I bought this for my twins who are going into surgery next month. They will be stuck in the hospital with a cast from the waist down so they really cant do much but be stuck in their hospital room for several months. One is more creative than the other but they both like to draw and I felt this was a good deal. I saw in a review below stating that sometimes this item goes up higher in price at times. Yeah its worth the 19.97 that it was advertised at when I bought it, with the quality of the case. Other than that i wouldnt pay more.I would say if your child or kids take good care of their things then this thing can probably last a good while. But if they leave stuff out and climb over a lot of their toys, then this thing could easily be broken.

The set is great for keeping all of our son’s coloring supplies organized and to take with us on driving trips. However, we were disappointed to find that neither the tall or short markers include a red marker as shown in the picture. Red is our son’s favorite color so he was particularly upset. Not a huge deal, I can buy replacements for at least the smaller size but still worth noting.

A great gift for the aspiring artist
I bought this for my daughter‘s fifth birthday. She seems to love having everything at her fingertips when coloring and crafting. I do wish the case was a bit smaller, as it can be bulky to travel with and store. Over time, the edge that opens and closes has worn down and is starting to tear and fall apart a bit but that is likely because my daughter has used this so much! We have definitely got our moneys worth. I am including a few photos of this art set to provide a more thorough glance at what to expect, (including some photos with a standard roll of paper towels just to help demonstrate its size in relation to a common household object). Overall, I am pleased and would recommend this to others, especially those with artsy, craft loving kiddos. Hope that helps!

My kids love this. They take much better care of the materials in here than ones we have in regular crayola boxes that inevitably get smashed. The corners did crack a little, but we’ve had this long enough to wear out 1/3 of the markers and it still holds together well enough. But the best selling point is that the kids actually put their stuff away; we no longer have tons of broken crayons swimming around the bottom of a craft bucket and during art, the desired color is always super easy to find. Price appears to fluctuate a lot. Wait until it’s closer to $10 than $40.

For the money, it’s great. However, we bought two and both were broken when they arrived. Therefore, I don’t think they are really durable. Still, we didn’t end up returning the second one (I put in for a return and decided not to) because I couldn’t find anything else that I really liked.I wanted Crayola so that I could easily replace the pieces. I wish Crayola made a wooden box or something a bit more durable so that I know it would last through multiple kids.In the end, the crayons and markers are standard Crayola and great for my kids.

My kids absolutely LOVE these! I got one for my 12 & 13 year olds. One girl and one boy. I was hesitant because they are all about electronics, but that’s why I got these. I was looking for a way to encourage them to do something constructive. And I gotta tell ya, I was very pleasantly surprised. When they opened the box and saw what was inside they were so excited they have been using them every day since.Now, I have a 7 year old too, and when he saw them, he had to have one too. I was a bit concerned about the durability of the case because my little man is a bit rough on his stuff. Crayola totally thought about that! I ordered another and with the quickness my little man had his case and was rockin it at summer camp. I let him take it because we are working on his ability to take care of things and it’s a creative tool, plus I’m sure some of the other kids would likely see how cool it is and want one too, thus spreading my desire to get kids away from electronics and doing something creative. We had a talk about taking care of it and sharing, and he was so excited to show it off. It came home complete and in tact!After the first week there is a slight tear on one of the corners, but guess what; it’s only the decorative outter layer! Yes, there is a harder she’ll case underneath that is solid black. Heck yeah! Way to go Crayola for thinking this design through to the end. 7 year old Granddaughter loves this set. She doesn’t usually take care of some of her things but keeps this set nice and tidy. Won’t let her little brother touch it. Lol Bought with a sketch pad and a kids drawing book and this made an awesome birthday gift for her. She likes to draw and this set is a great step up from markers and crayons. Enjoying the pastels and chalks a lot and makes an inexpensive introduction to other mediums like those. Case is nice but not very durable. Would be nice in a stronger box, awesome if it was wood. Would pay a higher price for that. The closure and handle are cheap plastic and the handle came off pretty quickly. We put it back into the hole and gorilla glued it. So far it’s working but she is not carrying it much. It stays on her desk or she will carry it by holding it like a book.

I purchased this art kit in November of 2016 for my son’s third birthday. He loved it, I loved it, it got tons of use and held up beautifully (no broken crayons!). And then…and then I accidentally left it in a trunk for several hours on a 90° July day. I was able to salvage the markers with the help of a handy dandy blow-dryer after the melted wax had hardened, but the crayons were toast, and the heat from the blow-dryer also melted the black liner that holds all of the goodies in the case. I plan to purchase a new one for my son’s fourth birthday this November, and hopefully this time I won’t leave it in a hot trunk. I highly recommend this product for the aspiring miniature Vermeer or the hopeful wee Braquemond. This will probably be my go-to gift when my son starts school and begins attending birthday parties regularly.

It’s great! Too big for travel…
Our five year old was really getting into drawing but didn’t like sharing with little brother. This was the perfect kit for her because she can keep all the colors organized. I love the feature where the crayons, pencils, and markers can “pop” out by pushing on one side and then pop back in to stay securely. The only downside is the size. When it’s open you really have to have a large space to lay it out AND have the paper you’re coloring on. Our daughter will often go back to the standby cup of crayons because it doesn’t take up space.

I was a little disappointed that they are not full size markers and this was not mentioned in the description, but for the price this is ok. Others have mentioned the cardboard case; I think it’s very sturdy and will hold up well if they use it as intended. Overall a good purchase that doesn’t take up much space.

So, I have to say that I don’t write reviews unless I feel certain it’s an awesome product, or certain it’s not. This set has lasted in our home with 4 kids under 8, using it a few times a week and has lasted almost a year now. The kids (and I) love it. I can also say that for the majority of the year we had only misplaced 1 colored pencil (now we’re missing a colored pencil and two markers, but hey– a year with 4 kids). Everything has it’s place, the kids can choose which method of art they want to use and I only have to get out one kit. LOVE This thing. Highly recommend!

Wow, what a ton of colors! You should have seen my drawing-loving kids’ faces when they opened this up and saw how many things were inside (the number of crayons is the same as a regular box of 64, but they look more numerous and way more impressive displayed this way!). Even for a grown-up, if you enjoyed coloring as a child, part of you will wish this was yours! All the supplies are typical Crayola quality, and the “pipsqueak” washable markers fit small hands very well. The colorful carrying case is brilliant (and attractive) – keeps everything in one place and the art supplies don’t get lost all over the house. The front of the case does not have the brand on it, so I took the cardboard display off the front before wrapping and let the kids guess for a while as to what might be inside. I think this is a great value for the price, and would definitely buy it again as a gift. Just looking at all the colors is enough to make you feel happier on the inside.

The box is fantastic and the contents are great, but the plastic insert that holds all of the art supplies in came unglued right away. That makes it hard to close the box, and is annoying in general. I can just glue it back in, but it’s annoying. My five year old does love this, though. She’s quite particular about her things, so it’s good for her to have a way to organize art supplies.

This makes a great gift for any child. It includes 2 different types of markers, colored pencils, and crayons all neatly organized in a travel case. We can finally retire our bucket of old broken crayons and mismatched markers and caps. Having a spot for each item encourages organization. These Crayola cases are great for little artists who migrate around the house, like organized supplies, or for any situation where you’d like to take some art supplies on the go with you.We have purchased multiple Crayola art cases. 2 of this style and one of the smelly scents. This case is rather large for a child under 4, but is still light enough to be carried around. The quality does not suffer as it’s still Crayola quality.I will say, if you are torn on whether or not to purchase one of these for your child or as a gift, I recommend the smelly scents one for ANY kid. It’s smaller (about half the size) and unique as everything smells. I also recommend the color wonder case for younger toddlers as they really are an amazing marker style art supply without the messy worry. If you are unable to locate a smell scents one or color wonder, these cases are just as great-just a bit larger!

This is Crayola branded everything, meaning, these are not your standard cheap set of colors!
I have purchased other art boxes for our other daughter in the past and just was so unhappy with the quality. The colors were cheap, markers worked for a short spell, etc. This kit is the opposite of that, it is WONDERFUL! I gave this to my five year old for her birthday and she absolutely was elated. It came with the mini markers which are perfect for small hands, the taller markers, the mini colored pencils, and crayons of course. It also comes with a stack of white paper inside of the box which was nice, though I would still recommend getting more paper or coloring books as a part of a gift if you are gifting it. It is such a cute set and the box is RAINBOW for all the rainbow lovers out there. My daughter loves rainbows so this worked out wonderfully. Just buy it!

This is a really great art kit for kids. We got them for ours for Christmas and they have loved them. Lots of colors, easy to carry, very portable for road trips etc. the only reason for the docked star is that the case is pretty flimsy and they are already starting to come apart. The corners are tearing and the “binding” isn’t holding up, which makes it so it won’t hold together and stay closed.

The Crayola Color Inspiration Kit is a lightweight fold open case that reveals a wide range of colors across crayons, pencils, and markers, and a lot for any kid pre-K to be creative with color. The bounty of the kit is traditional crayons, coming in at 64 different colors (if my basic math skills don’t fail me); but, on top of crayons, there are 20 half-size colored pencils, 20 half-size color markers, and 20 full-size color markers. It even includes a pack of paper – albeit it looks like an instruction manual package with blank instructions and unbound (i.e., finding it was more of an oddity than a necessity; it made me laugh seeing it).The markers are water soluble – I had no trouble wiping away marks that missed the paper. There is no pencil sharpener, but I’d honestly rather my daughter not be playing around with a small razor – so you’ll probably need to get one to keep separate. And yes it comes with paper, but if you have no decent art paper or coloring books, you’ll likely want to grab that too – in the spirit of the kit, I’d say art paper over coloring books. And a clip board or a 2×4 hardboard with large clips on it can keep the attention and the color on the paper.Overall, for what it comes with and its great price, I would recommend giving it a go. It certainly is aimed at an age group, so if your child is starting to really round out their art and are interested in going further, this won’t satisfy. This is a kit for a child to develop an initial expression of interest in art (just beyond the wild scribbling phase).

Nice little case. This was a Christmas present for a 13 year old girl and she loved it! Only complaint was that the variety of color wasn’t great, there is more bright vibrant colors than darker ones with depth. She likes to use a bit of everything.
