- Crafted with Canadian precision and passion, the Heritage Workshop in Québec City has been the beating heart of craftsmanship, sound mastery, and unparalleled quality since 1997, ensuring that every spoon carries the pride of Canada’s musical heritage
Introducing Heritage Musical Spoons, a family business fueled by passion and craftsmanship. Meet Richard and Mathieu, the dynamic father and son duo from Quebec City, Canada, who have been crafting exquisite spoons since 1997. What started as a unique gift for a friend blossomed into a sensation as word spread about the exceptional feel and quality of their creations. Richard, a former environmental technician, was drawn to the idea of owning a small business and fully dedicated himself to his spoons. Meanwhile, Mathieu, after growing up in his father’s woodworking shop, pursued a business degree and gained valuable marketing experience before ultimately following his heart and joining the family business in 2016. They believe in using only the finest Canadian Maple Wood sourced from the forests of northern Quebec and Ontario. This high-density wood is perfect for percussion, delivering a rich and full sound that surpasses the metallic notes of conventional spoons. Crafted with unwavering attention to detail and a commitment to quality, all their spoons are meticulously created in their very own Heritage Workshop, built by Richard’s skilled hands.

Easy to play
I love instruments and buy a new one every year or so. I have harmonicas, a sax, a trumpet, an orcarina, a guitar, a piano, and some other woodwinds. This is the first percussion instrument I’ve owned though I’ve played drums and have some practice pads and sticks. It didn’t take more than a couple minutes to learn several ways to but I’ve yet to reach the end in variations of play.It be thing that I was surprised about is the volume. It takes great care to play these softly. The videos didn’t make it sound like they were so loud. I started at what I thought would be very gentle levels but the sound echoed thought the entire floor of the house. I’ve learned that if you want to play quietly it takes an extremely soft touch. But the other side is nice, playing with a band is easy. The sound is bright and can cut through the noise with little effort.

The kids love this!!
I bought this for my son for his birthday… He found it in the drawer before I had a chance to wrap it. While I was away he snuck it out and played with it because he just couldn’t wait!

Pretty cool!
I broke my finger and it healed a bit wonky, so I am no longer able to hold my metal spoons properly. I bought these as an alternative. They are great! They took a bit to get used to.. The action is a little stiff and the technique is a bit different…but I am happy I can still play!

Quality
Very nice quality sound and tone are awesome. I did order the large it’s really hard to hold onto. I suggest getting the smaller the medium highly recommend purchasing product.

Cool instrument, smaller is easier
As the title says, this is fun for young and older. The model I bought was a bit larger and trickier than a similar item I bought, and I would recommend a smaller size. Not for babies – they could pull this apart.

Great percussion instrument! Superior quality!
These are so much fun to play around with. I’m finally getting the hang of them and being able to play some more complicated fidgeting. I would recommend the large sizes for any adult. I feel like the small ones might be a little too cramped in an adult’s hand.

Absolutely awesome!
I bought the medium size. Then bought the big ones and broke them . Then bought another pair of the big ones that sounds even better than the previous. Each pair is unique. I’m so glad I broke my previous pair and bought this one cause this second pair is so much easier to play. Bottom line is each pair is its own thing. They are hand made. Excellent

Great Percussion Spoons
I perform percussion with several Blue Grass & Country Bands, and these spoons are the best. They don’t need a microphone on them, and can be heard at quite a distance. They are well made, and very sturdy.

Clakity clack!
Clakity clack! These are so fun to play with. Even if you’re not a percussionist or a drummer but you simply have an internal sense of rhythm. They’re inexpensive and they’re certainly a lot better than grabbing a couple of metal spoons out of your cutlery drawer. Highly recommended.

Great sound and comfortable to play!
I started playing the spoons two years ago. These have a great sound and look! A great addition to a set of classic metal spoons. I can play these for so much longer than my other spoons. These would be great for a beginning or a kid who can easily practice techniques and rhythms.

Great Gift for Noodling Around
I don’t really have the desire to sit down and learn full on songs to play with any instrument so generally just freestyle for 10 minutes here and then on whistle, flutes, etc. These are literally perfect to fit into that rotation.

Great fidget turned into rhythm
My husband loves to fidget and tap – any tune he finds a way to follow along with his own version of “music makers” which consist of anything from the steering wheel to zippers to actual musical instruments.Well crafted and well received. So unique and the sound is amazing. The videos have been a great help in learning little tricks to get the most dynamic combination of sounds out of this simple instrument. I would recommend this to anyone that is musically inclined and tends to tap and tune in to the sounds around them.

Great sound, and easy to play.
Having tried several other wooden spoons, I must say that I’m very happy with this set. Sound has a great tonal quality, and more advanced techniques come easily with these spoons. I also like the distressed green color.

Easy to play
Having more fun with these spoons! They are very easy to play. I also bought the small spoons. They are pretty stiff initially and seem a bit harder to play. However they do loosen up and become much easier to play.

Large Spoons
To be honest, it’s a gift I haven’t given yet. I can’t wait to see how my grandson likes it. He likes to play different musical instruments, and this one will be unique for him. I bought the large, and they really do look large to me. But, he is 6 foot three so it’s probably the right option. They look nice and they came quickly, and that’s all I can report on at this time.

Awesome gift, an heirloom and so much fun!
I bought this for my 80 year old, musically inclined mother, who has wonderful memories of her grandfather playing musical spoons with actual silver spoons. What a BLAST. She LOVES it!!! She has arthritis but can easily hold and use this and has so much FUN making satisfying clickety-clackety music with it.

Love these!
I just got my (medium size) spoons yesterday and began playing with them right out of the box. My granddaughter and husband tried them, too. There are videos on the Heritage Spoon site that you can view to learn the different hand movements to add flair to your spooning … they are so much fun to play! Can’t wait until we have another cousins get-together where everyone brings whatever they play so I can join in!The spoons are well-made, too, and Heritage will answer any questions you have, even before purchase. A very good choice!!

These wooden spoons are extremely well built and lots of fun. In the picture you can see the three sizes. Each spoon is shaped differently but basically plays the same with a different sound. Get all three for the most variety. After you practice a few technics, play along with songs on the radio. 5 stars from this satisfied customer. Easy for beginners and variety for professionals.

Definitely worth the $$. They sound great. I like the less pinging sound of the wooden spoons over the metal ones. Plenty loud enough if using around other instruments.
