Product Description

Jaw Harp by MUARO

The harp is a rather unique instrument. It is often associated with northern shamans and immersion in a alternative state of consciousness. Many people notice that playing the harp helps them relax, escape from the daily routine and enter a state of light trance. The harp, like no other instrument, is great for improvising a expirementing with various sounds. The mouth harp by MUARO is a great way to introduce yourself to the world of music and improvisation!

AUTHENTIC CASE

This mouth harp comes with a protective case to store it and carry it with you while you are traveling or on the go. The case has a cord attached to it so you can hang it on your wrist. The case is crafted from cedar and the cord from premium leather.

HIGH QUALITY

All our mouth harps are made of high-quality materials, like steel and brass, to ensure that they will stand the test of time.

ORIGINAL SOUND

Limitless new sounds: our mouth harp is specifically designed to produce clear and crisp sounds! Depending on your breathing technique and movement, it can produce a unique variety of melodies.

MASTERING THE SOUND

By hitting the tongue with your fingers, you create vibrations that are transmitted to the oral cavity, which serves as a resonator: by changing its contour, you can achieve a different timbral color of the sound of the instrument. The frame to which the tongue is attached is designed to fix the instrument in front of the teeth playing with the fingers of the other hand. The harp should be pressed tightly against the front teeth, but there should be a gap between the teeth that allows the tongue of the instrument to pass freely.

So much fun! Easy to get started.

My first foray into jaw harps began with this and one in another style. I found the other style

easier to use though (for a beginner). But the case on this one is very cool. And it’s cheaper. So if you are looking for cool gifts for friends/grandkids this one is probably the better choice. It takes just a few minutes on youtube to grasp the basics of working the harp, which is very rewarding. I’ve not had that luck with other mouth instruments, that’s for sure (I’m a piano person, I expect results too fast). Definitely a fun travel / camping piece, and point for conversation!

Great little starter harp maybe for kids but fun for anyone interested. Nice wooden case.

This is nicely made with a great natural wooden case and a leather strap securing it. I think it makes a great gift for kids especially as when your older you might not want metal vibrating near your teeth. Good price and great presentation!

Pay the extra bit and get a Jaw Harp that actually works.

This is a great starter Jaw Harp. If you are choosing between this and the 9 dollar one, pay the extra bit and get this. This one works. They don’t.

    Pluck gently.

Don’t wail on it too hard I actually broke the reed after a few weeks of playing it. Good tone though, was louder than my other two. I’m planning to invest in an even nicer one. I would like to find someone who knows how to repair them. I have a few old ones that could possibly be fixed (the reeds need replacing).

    Good value. Nice harp!

This harp sounds REALLY good, especially compared to the tourists/kids one I’ve had for years. It’s also a lot smaller than I expected it to be. I like the Russian wood case as well. A nice touch. This harp has a nice, deep, resonant sound, especially when my throat and mouth are wide open, and during inhales and exhales. The tines seem just a tad close to the striker tongue, which means if it’s hit hard or not dead on, it clangs against one or both tines. This can be overcome with patience and practice, but I thought it was notable.

    Awesome boing sounds!!!

What started off as more as a fun gag gift for my husband, has become a family-favorite instrument in the house, haha! We all love playing with it, and have quickly learned how to play some of our favorite songs on the Jews Harp 🙂 Such a great buy! And we LOVE the stylish storage container it comes in 🙂 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!Note: We’re beginners with the Jew’s Harp, so we’re not exactly sure what makes a great one versus a terrible one. All we know is it makes cool boing-y sounds 😀

    Well Crafted Jaw Harp

I have always been interested in unusual musical instruments, Although the Jaw Harp is not all that unusual, I am intrigued by it. The Muaro Jaw Harp is nicely crafted and has a pretty good tone – for a Jaw Harp. Having never played one before it took me about 30 minutes to figure it out with the help of You Tube. I don’t expect to be great at it, I am simply interested in learning how to play it.

    excellent tonal quality

this jaw harp has excellent tonal quality – better than others costing twice as much – i was really surprisedso if you want to sound like a lonely cowboy plodding through the desert in the far southwest, this jaw harp (along with a wailing harmonica) will work very wella fun musical instrument that anyone can playi was surprised that the harp does not come in a closed wood box, but instead is held inside a half-cutout wood using an ingenious leather thong design – it works well to protect the plucker from damage or bendingthis is a fun gift that won’t break the bank!

It was really easy to use, number two The sound coming out of It was perfect.

Sturdy, quality material, slightly small so hard for a large fingered person like me to hold.

I’m honestly not sure how to judge the quality as this is my very first harp. That being said, I can say it is nice quality material in a general sense. Out of the things I’ve learned myself, I would like to have a larger area to hold as I’m a large guy and my fingers tend to touch and mute the Reed without intentionally doing so. That’s my only “complaint” but it’s not that huge a deal to be honest. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for your first harp.

No expert, but this made me feel like one

I can’t speak to the actual sound quality or how good of a harp it is in terms of sound as I have just started, But I got it in the mail and was able to get satisfactory sounds out of it along with being able to speak through it within an hour of screwing with it, FANTASTICALLY easy to pick up as a hobby or if you wish to use this to it’s full instrumental potential, if My stupid self could pick it up in less than an hour it must be pretty damn good of a starting device. would recommend to anyone trying to screw around with a jaw harp.

I got my first jaw harp when I was young from Cracker Barrel. I never knew how to make sound out of it. Over the years it got lost and I recently took interest when I saw one played. I saw the one I got from Cracker Barrel here on Amazon and according to the reviews it didn’t make much noise. this one was a little more than I wanted to spend but I have found that it’s a great value and having the case will help me not to lose it. And the craftmanship is nice. I figured out in minutes by watching a short tutorial and before long I could do more than I thought was possible.

Nice look & feel, but small, sounds just ok

This mouth harp is a bit on the small side, which can make it a bit of an effort to hold for long periods. It is good for beginners in spite of its smaller size, as there is less motion involved in moving the pick; this means you are less likely to get a “click” sound while playing if your form slips.I prefer larger mouth-harps from the same brand/seller. This one is a bit higher in tone, but with the same clarity in sound. The case is very well sculpted, smooth and snug, it houses the harp well, and even has a hole to store the pick, so it won’t be exposed to dust or damage.Genuine materials comprise the case: It has a leather tie, wooden bead, and a well-sanded wooden case. Nothing about this feels cheap.

Very nice looking and appears well built.

Due to so much “stay at home” time these days, I thought I’d get this for when my granddaughter comes over. I used to play with one when I was a kid and figured she may like it. She can pick up and learn almost any musical instrument in minutes. When I mentioned I had one, she already knew what it was.In any event the case is really first rate and appears well built for what you get. This is not meant to be a high end instrument but does offer a novice like me the chance to experiment at a reasonable cost.It only took my granddaughter a bit to start using it. She loves to create her own music. However, I soon discovered my teeth are now too sensitive to do much with this.Bottom line this is a really cool and unique instrument that you can carry around and use when feeling bored or out of sorts.

    Intriguing, Fun Instrument

Well, this is fun. I have become interested in music the last few years and have studied guitar and piano. I’m curious about other instruments, and jumped at the opportunity to try this product when it was offered. The first thing I noticed is how beautifully crafted it is. It is handmade and It looks very cool and feels good too.I did not know the first thing about playing it, so I googled and then watched some videos. Just fooling around with it for an hour or so will get you sounding pretty good. Of course, mastering it is something that will take much longer. But out of the box, you can have some real fun with it. Really interesting sound and lots of ways to make it produce different sounds and pitches.

    Absolutely Love this Jaw Harp

I picked up a couple of Jaw Harps here on Amazon, and this, by far is my favorite one. Although the instrument itself make look simple in comparison to others you may find on here, it has superior sound quality and versatility/fluctuation. It is a very promising beginner Jaw Harp and comes in a beautiful hand carved case. This would make a phenomenal purchase as something to learn and master yourself or to give as a gift.

    Case adds charm….

I’m completely new to the mouth harp, but I found myself intrigued by it. I watched some videos online to see how they work and hear how they are supposed to sound. Mine didn’t have quite as lovely of a sound as what I heard in the videos, but I’m sure that’s more my fault. Still, I think this particular one will work better for beginners wanting to test a mouth harp out. The mouth harp itself is pretty simple, but the case for it is quite lovely. The case helps protect it and adds charm to it.

I ordered two different harps as a total beginner, and here are the results. Compared to the MUARO SKIFF Jew’s harp -Russian Vargan by Glazyrin, the sound is a little bit lower. Much smaller in size, the reed has more give, Making it both easier to play, but also easier to strike your teeth. The sound is rich and clear—see video for sample.

    Basic, Entry-Level Harp

Sometimes described as souvenir harps, the Potkin harps are actually significantly better than the models usually found in US music stores. Nonetheless, they ARE entry-level, meaning they typically have larger and less consistent gaps, more rough and ready construction, are less consistent from sample to sample, and are both quieter and less sensitive than better makes.Larger gaps make for a softer sound, but are also more forgiving of stroking technique. I.e., fewer clanks and clicks on the decks … or teeth. Less sensitivity can mean less range and less capability … but better repeatability with inexpert technique. So entry-level characteristics have negatives and positives. It depends on what you’re looking for and what you need. They are also substantially less expensive, so trying out the harp needn’t be pricey.A bonus with this harp is the wood “case” (block really), which serves to protect the harp, particularly the trigger, and carry the harp without banging it up. You can tuck it into a pack without concern about mangling it.Unlike the true mass market junk usually encountered, you can actually learn and play on a Potkin harp.Highly Recommended at its price level.[edit: After playing this for a couple of days AND receiving another Potkin sample in the interim, I’ve decided to up this rating to 4 stars. Everything written above still applies, but strictly evaluating these as entry-level in their low price range AND given the consistency from sample to sample (virtually identical), 4 stars seems more appropriate. They are a good value for someone who wants to see what a harp can do without spending much.]

Great jaw harp! This MUARO version is for those who want the dark wooden tribal-like case!

I am going to review the Jaw Harp by MUARO P.Potkin in Dark Wooden Case. This MUARO P. Potkin is from famous Altay (republic in Russia) master Pavel Potkin in a protective dark wooden case with it looking a bit like a tribal style. How it works is you hold the Jew’s Harp and put it towards the front of your teeth and the goal is to hold it by the frame and with your lips pursed and the harp towards your teeth, you strum the loop (attached to a trigger) in the end. There are many videos online with instructions, just know that it has to be against your teeth (not biting on the frame), and strumming and learning not to hit your teeth and it takes time. A beginner’s Jews’ Harp really gets one prepared to take the step for more elaborate harps. It’s a good entry Jew’s Harp and I like the way it looks and this is more of a good starting point for a low price. And if you enjoy the instrument, you can move into a much more expensive. It’s important to note that the stainless steel reeds can corrode, so wipe them off with each use and use coconut oil (or other oils) to clean it off. Now, there are various Jew’s Harp, especially with the P.Potkin name to it, for MUARO releases, there are different cases, so for those who want the dark wooden case, this is the one to get!But overall, Jaw Harp by MUARO P.Potkin in Dark Wooden Case and how well it’s made for its $17.50 price point. Recommended!

Even within the world of jaw harps, which are certainly not the most expensive instruments in the world, I’ve seen some of higher quality. However, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of higher quality at this price point. And for most people, I think this is probably just the right balance. If you’re just looking for another instrument to add to your collection, or you just want something you can keep in your pocket and play from time to time, the extra expense of a higher quality instrument is probably unnecessary. This one will work just fine for you.The instrument is simplicity itself, so there’s not a lot that could go wrong in its construction. If I were to complain about anything, I’d just say that it’s a little small for me, but certainly not unusable; it just took a little practice to find a way to hold it comfortably. Its sound is also just fine. Again, perhaps not on par with a “professional quality” instrument, but certainly better than what I expected, and I’m more than happy with it.Admittedly, the case steals the show a little bit. While the instrument is great, I was particularly happy with the quality of the wooden case, which fits the instrument like a glove and makes for an attractive way to carry the instrument and keep it safe.

    Slight taste of metal

The metal taste can be kinda gross at times but its what to expect when getting an instrument that goes in your mouth. Other than that the sound is good and enjoyable to listen to.

    Children’s Christmas Present

I bought this for my 10yo son for Christmas. It took him a day to get the technique down and the next day he was already twanging the theme to Star Wars, Jingle Bells and Happy Birthday. He loves it. My only complaint was that the leather strap on the case broke in one day. We used a big rubber band to hold it in place until we went and bought a new leather strap.

    Fun sound, fun to play.

Well, I tried to learn, but I’m not very good at this! LOL That’s okay, because I didn’t spend too much to play around with it for a couple of months. It’s a really cute little instrument, though, and I love the carving on the case. It’s really beautiful. I can make some interesting sounds with it, and it is fun. Makes me feel like I should go camping and play this around the campfire! I will keep practicing. There are several musicians in my family, so I will probably take this to the next family gathering and surprise everybody! This would also be a great gift for any musician, as it’s a great little instrument to carry in your pocket or bag.I hope my experience with this product might help YOU make a more informed purchase. Happy shopping!

    Nice Gift for Musicians

My boyfriend has been wanting a jaw harp for so long and absolutely loves this. We both agree that this is a “cheaper” instrument. I mean you get what you pay for, but with a couple months and it being tossed around it has held up fantastically. It is quiet, but it does have a very clear “boi-oi-oinnnng” to it.

    nice for the money

A fairly small harp, the smallest I have, with a higher pitched sound which leads to the sonic perception that it has less range. Perhaps a small harp is a more sublet instrument in some ways than the larger, deeper one I have. In any case, the wooden carry case this comes with for protection makes it easy to carry without damage.

    Like.

We used to play with these as a kid. They are kind of fun. A bit more challenging than a kazoo but easier than a recorder. The sound, while not loud, will annoy just about anyone (which is kind a the reason to play one when you are a child, or making a political ad). This one seems a bit small. The part that moves is very flexible (watch the teeth). The sound is better than the cheap tin ones I used as a child. However, it might be a few generations before a concerto is written for a mouth harp (but I hope it happens).Visually, I like it’s appearance. The block used to carry it is impressive. So for some fun and a unique sound, or just the macho “look what I can do without chipping my teeth… oops” this will more than work.

    Best Purchase

I bought this because I was scrolling through Tik Tok and saw someone playing this so I impulse bought this version of a jaw harp. I have to say that was so worth it. This thing is so fun to just whip out at parties or events or by yourself or when you friends all turn out to be pranking you or when you figure out you lost your job or when you find out that your childhood dog just died or at any point honestly. That’s all.

Unique and different. It’s like a piece of art.

This is a great conversation piece. It’s solid, thick, and sturdy. Maybe not the best thing for beginners but still fun.

    Beginner review

I am writing my review from the point of a beginner. If you already proficient in playing jaw harp, it might be too “basic” for you, but for someone who is just beginning it is great.Jaw Harp by MUARO P.Potkin in Dark Wooden Case is also a great gift – it looks nice with its wooden case. There are plenty of videos online that will give you an idea of how to play it.Overall, I think it is a great gift, or a beginner instrument.

    Sounds perfect

This was my first jaw harp purchase. I’ve always enjoyed the sound of them but never knew the name of it. It takes a little practice to learn it but it makes for a great gift for any music enthusiast or even if you want to learn a new skill.

Great for a beginner and really nice looking

This is really a fun instrument for someone who plays music for a hobby, or for a beginner. It has quite a different sound. It is really nicely made and looks very pretty too, with the lovely wood and inlay. I love having all different kinds of instruments in the house, and for my kids and grandkids also to experiment with, and this has been a fun addition.

    Nice box

It works and comes with a handsome box. One thing Jaw Harp manufacturers don’t tell you is that the pitch can’t be changed. Mine seemed to be F#.
