Inexpensive beginner recorder kit
This multi-piece kit with a sturdy plastic recorder, flimsy storage bag, fingering chart, and cleaning rod is a good set for a beginner. If you or your kid wants to try a recorder, this is everything you need to get started for very little $. The sound is decent and should hopefully improve with some practice.

I thought learning this recorder would be kinda fun since in high school and college I played other wind instruments (ok, reed instruments) but almost the same thing. It’s kinda funny because it kinda looks like a toy but has high-quality and looks solid. I am very glad it has accurate hole positions because having the right instrument crafted the right way makes all the difference in playing it correctly. I like that it is in the key of C and in soprano register. These are more comfortable and familiar to me so I know I will have fun with this. I think it would be a great choice and fun start for beginners of all ages embarking on their musical journey. The ABS non-toxic resin is durable and means that I can use this recorder for a long time to come. The workmanship of this recorder is very nice, with its polished finish and having all smooth, no jagged edges. Making it detachable certainly makes it a lot easier to clean, and regular maintenance is important to preserve the instrument and the sound. The recorder’s beautiful timbre and fine-tuned craftsmanship make it a delightful instrument and a good choice for students, teachers, or simply someone eager to explore the world of music. Have fun with it!

For The Grandson
This is a gift for my grandson, whose mom wants him to start to appreciate music and who needs the fun and challenge of making music. This recorder is well made, both durable and sturdy and the fact that it can be easily broken down and cleaned is a huge plus. Being clear blue allows us to see when condensation is accumulating inside so we can break it down to clean and dry it out (the cleaning rod it comes with works nicely). Cleaning is simple as it breaks down nicely and easily. As far as sound goes, it sounds good to my tone deaf ears, but for the price I don’t expect symphony orchestra quality, and my grandson thinks he is a master musician. He is still too little to be able to get the fingering right but it is a good starting instrument and when he starts to get some real lessons it will be a great starting recorder.

Nice recorder
Every kid needs a recorder. It comes in three parts that easily slide together. Also comes with the stick that I imagine is for cleaning it and a n instructional sheet that teaches you how to use it. The sound is very high-pitched and pleasing.

Nice Set, Great Price
Has everything you need, and has that sharp recorder sound. Very easy to use and clean. One of my first instruments as a kid, love this throwback. Very nice quality, and doesn’t damage easily. Highly recommended, especially for young kids, won’t have to replace this nearly as much as some instruments.

Just what this beginner wanted
I played the recorder when I was a teenager in the late 1960s/early 1970s because everyone in my social circle did that back then. (John Denver was an exciting new artist at the time.) I got this recorder out of curiosity and nostalgia, and am very happy with it.For starters, the tone is much better than the instruments of my memory. It’s easy to learn the basics and the recorder comes with fingering charts for baroque style and German style fingering methods. It sounds good enough that I won’t be discouraged by the poor sound quality of the instrument. Maybe by my lack of skill and talent, but that’s why I got it — to find out whether I enjoy playing the recorder enough to invest in a better instrument. The holes are small enough for a child’s fingers to cover them and there’s plenty of room for pudgy adult fingers to cover them without crowding. It comes with a cleaning rod and a clear plastic soft case that snaps closed, to keep everything together. The recorder can be separated into three sections for cleaning. It didn’t include a cleaning cloth, but a cotton hankie or bandanna works fine. This is a very good choice for a beginner, and the quality is high enough that I’ll be happy playing it for a long time. Not for professionals or expert amateurs, but I wouldn’t expect that for this price. It’s not a toy, it’s a beginner level instrument. I’m satisfied.

Fun!
I ordered this SWAN Soprano Recorder on a whim. While I come from a musical family, the music genes skipped right over me. I remember playing the recorder many years ago in school and I thought it would be fun to try it out again to see if maybe something had changed in me after all these years. Well, it turns out I am still terrible!First, I will say that this SWAN recorder is a good value at the current price of just $6.99. It’s a super cool translucent hot pink color, and it comes with a cleaning stick and plastic storage pouch. Additionally, there is a fingering chart for both the Baroque System and German System.Second, I can tell you that the sound seems nice, but I am in no way qualified to say anything more specific than that.Overall, this is a fun little instrument to play around with and perhaps introduce to an age-appropriate child or use as an adult to rekindle some fun childhood memories! It seems to be of good quality and the set includes everything you need to get started.

Sounds good!
I’m not musically inclined at ALL! Yet I was able to get this to make a melodious sound, even though when my son took up the trumpet, I could not even get a squawk out of the trumpet! This is a pretty pink, plastic gizmo. We have missionary friends with several daughters, so we’ll be giving this to them, to keep the youngest occupied while the parents are busy with church stuff. With no musical talent whatsoever, I am not qualified to speak to its tone, or its tuning, or anything to do with sound QUALITY — but I can tell you it sounds great!Definitely will be a hit with the missionary family who are traveling this summer and wanted things for the kids to do!

So Much Better
Wanted several totally different musical recorders so my grandkids could always know which one was individually theirs. This particular recorder was heavier and had a significantly better sound than another (a different brand) that I had purchased at the same time. It was also better quality than the 3 that I already owned. I am VERY pleased. Plus, it was the same price as the lesser quality one!

Great expensive tan recorder!
This Recorder is tan and seems very sturdy and durable. It is made well and you can feel it’s not flimsy plastic. The sound is smooth and clean and the chart is fairly easy to learn. It is easy for children and adults as long as their fingers can reach the holes, it even comes with a finger chart. The recorder comes in a clear snap case to help protect it.I am very happy with this order and would absolutely order another if needed! They’re excellent quality for a really low price.

Our youngest thinks the color is super cool, and his instructor says he is doing well with it.
This is perfect for our youngest who is taking music lessons and learning the recorder. My older son and I compared this SWAN recorder to our Yamaha recorder, playing the same musical notes in unison, we found they produced the same pitch. Our youngest thinks the color is super cool, and his instructor says he is doing well with it. I do which it came with a cloth bag instead of a plastic one, but it’s a small trade off for the cool color and lower price.

Great buy
I bought this for my 3rd grader to use in music class. Great price! The price was similar to what the school was charging, so I figured, why not get a super cool color?! My son LOVED how awesome his recorder was compared to the boring tan ones used at school. Too bad it doesn’t help him play any better! 😉

Nice Beginners Recorder
I got this to introduce my granddaughter to the winds instruments–I find the recorder to be the easiest for beginners. I was very pleased with this one. It is a nice little soprano recorder (cleaning rod included), and very easy for her smaller hands to use. I like that it comes with the note/finger sheet, so she can learn how to hold it, and play, properly. It is made with a sturdy resin material, which I like better than wood because it isn’t likely to retain moisture.

Inexpensive option for starting out
This recorder is a great idea for anyone looking to step into the world of music and isn’t too sure where to start and has little or no experience. This recorder came with instructions on how to play it and ways to clean it along with the needed cleaning tool used to clean properly. It has great sound and is an instrument that can be easily learned for someone of any age, our 8 year old was so happy when she got this. It comes in a variety of fun colors so it can be custom to the person who is going to use it. The price for this item is really good too because it is inexpensive but it is a great quality flute.

Looks Nice & Sounds Good
This SWAN Soprano Recorder Instrument for Beginners is as advertised. I don’t have much experience with these, but it’s fun to learn how to use it. I’m not good at it, but my kid has some experience learning these in school. I think having one at home is helpful. The three pieces are detachable which makes storing it easy. I’m not sure what a soprano recorder is supposed to sound like, but it sounds fine to me. The shade of blue makes it look cool. I like that it comes with a cleaning stick. For $5.99 this is a good deal. It seems like it will last through some kid wear and tear. Cheers!

Nice beginner recorder
I got this for my daughter after her previous one was broken and she loves it! The color is fun and the plastic storage bag should hold up for at least a couple of years, I think, and keeps the little instruction chart and the rod for cleaning/drying all in one place. The sound is just like all other basic plastic recorders I’ve had experience with.

Hot Pink, Transparent, Great Lung Exercise!
I have lung disease and must exercise my lungs by blowing on things like recorders. I had one but my dog ate it so I am thrilled to be the owner of a new transparent, hot pink soprano recorder. I will not claim to be any good at playing anything that anyone but I will recognize, but who cares? I came with a fingering chart a cleaning wand and a plastic bag to store it in. I come from a long line of musicians so I know good sound when I hear it and this one has a good, clear sound. My grandfather would have said, “It has good bones.” I think that the transparency and fun colors that it comes in are a great way to introduce children to playing reed instruments.

Very nice for the price
This plastic recorder is so inexpensive that every child should have a chance to try one out. Young children need to be exposed to all kinds of musical instruments and all kinds of music so that they can make an informed decision as to whether and which instrument they might wish to learn to play well. I personally don’t think children today are given enough opportunity to play music for themselves, no matter how much music they are exposed to that has been (or is being) performed by others. This recorder is a good start in the right direction. The parts can be rotated in such a way that fingers can comfortably reach each hole, at least once they are of school age. Even two-year-olds (like two of my grandsons) can enjoy making “music” with this recorder despite the fact that their hands are too small to really manage the holes. If it were a more expensive “quality” recorder, you might be too concerned that such little ones might misuse it or even break it; but frankly, at this price, the opportunity to give it a try and have fun with it (with a little instruction from you) is worth it. They will either love it and eventually want to move on to a “higher quality” one, or to some other instrument entirely, or you will learn that this was not the instrument for them. Let them surprise you! And, by the way, the sound this plastic recorder makes is indeed “quality.”
Josh –
Not bad, easy to play
It’s not comparable to a more expensive recorder in sound quality or feel, but it’s a solid beginner’s recorder and easy to play. The included cleaning stick is a nice addition as well. Overall this is a good option if you are looking for a cheap recorder for your kid to start learning music on.

Economy recorder
The media could not be loaded.
Reflecting on the German model,The case is flexible clear plastic that snaps shut. It has a cleaning rod and fingering chard. It has a pleasing enough tone and does not easily over blow. The C is a little sharp and the rest of the notes a little flat. The notes can be brought into pitch by adjusting the amount of air used; using less air for the C, and more air for the rest, even more the higher you go. However the result would not be a balanced level through the register. The intonation may be lowered but not brought higher, by adjusting how tightly the pieces are fit together. However the pitch can not be raised.

Nice recorder
It seems like any typical recorder to me – it plays well and seems sturdy (made of plastic). I appreciate that it came with a cleaning rod, because as someone who plays clarinet, I can tell you these things get so gross with spit if you don’t continuously clean after each session. If you need a recorder for you or your child (my four year old love to play this), this will do nicely. I like that it came in black, as I think it looks nicer than some of the white/off white ones.

Tonettes were never like this
I am of the generation that got plastic Tonettes in the primary grades; still have a couple. Later — still more than half a century ago now — I got my first real recorder, a soprano in, I think pear wood, which I also still have and play. This Swan recorder is one of the best plastic recorders I have ever heard — plays rings around those old Tonettes! I know that for a while public schools were cutting music programs, which was a crying shame, with all the research pointing to the good effects music has on learning and the brain. I hope the situation is getting turned around again, especially now that instruments like this are available at what, in today’s market, must be an almost nominal cost.

SWAN Soprano Recorder
I have the feeling I’m going to regret this… but my son is incredibly musically inclined and I am trying to give him every outlet to express himself. Plus I’m sure he’ll have to learn the star spangled banner on this thing in the 4th grade like me and everyone else I know did. Anyways, it’s a good little recorder. Solidly made and has a sweet sound (when played correctly!) so I’m happy with the purchase. Tucking it away for Santa to leave in his stocking. Would buy again!

Let Your Musical Creativity Flow…
Like most people of my generation, I had music in elementary school and learned to play the recorder. While I’m not exactly talented, this little instrument is fun to use and is lightweight enough to carry along for a hike or travel. Of course there’s plenty of online videos to watch so that I can learn a tune or two and the correct fingering. It does come with a piece of paper that illustrates this though. The bag it comes in is plastic. Nothing fancy but then again I’m not planning to join an orchestra so it’s great for me.
dylan –
I hate these so much.
These are the worst instrument known to human kind. It is that time in my child’s life where she returns from school to request a recorder be purchased for her music class. This recorder is indestructible. It has been thrown up and down stairs, stepped on, swung as a baseball bat and stored in the unforgiving climate that is a child’s backpak. The worst part is that it still functions as if it was brand new, serving its primary function…to play “hot cross buns.”

Student grade, very pretty blue
This recorder plays like any decent plastic recorder. It’s a great price for an instrument and a wonderful gift to inspire children to explore music. I love that it comes with a fingering chart. The cleaning rod can be used with any small microfiber cloth. It also disassembles for cleaning or storage.

Basic beginner’s recorder
This is a good recorder for beginners. It comes with a cleaning rod and a fingering chart, and a clear vinyl case to keep everything in. The mouthpiece and the piece at the other end are removable for ease of cleaning. I had not used a recorder in many years, but quickly learned while trying it out that breath control is important. I achieved better tones by keeping my breath light, like breathing out. Blowing hard distorts the notes.I got a clear blue one because I like the color, but it comes in other colors, too. Take note that although the listing has a picture of two recorders, you only get one.

Inexpensive but good quality
Even my 3-year-old could produce good sounds out of this thing the first time he picked it up. I’m hoping he’ll slowly but surely learn how to play before he even gets to elementary school. Meanwhile, both my wife and I had fun noodling on it. Win-win. It comes with just a very cheap soft plastic case, but it also includes a cleaning rod. Excellent value for a quality little musical instrument.

Fine for beginners
This is a plastic lightweight recorder. The pieces fit snugly together, and the sound is pretty decent, but of course it depends on your technique. I’m sure there are more professional, high quality recorders to be had, but this is a fine, affordable choice for children, beginners, and occasional players.

You really can’t beat this recorder for the price. Plus, it’s available in a few fun colors. I got this for my daughter who plays piano and percussion in her school’s band. Fun color! Strong, clear, tone and sound. Smooth frame.
This is really stunning to look at. I had to buy a recorder for a music class project. I thought why buy a regular color if there are other choices. I wasn’t sure of the tone quality, but it’s just fine! It does what it is supposed to, and it looks great doing it! I’m glad I went with the fun color. The frame is smooth, no rough spots. Great for teaching
Going to try and teach my grandson how to play. This is a great first instrument to see if he wants to learn how to play other things. Heavy, nice smooth plastic, that seems like it can take a lot of abuse by a child. Easy to clean and it sounds good when played. This will be a fun thing to pursue over the long winter ahead.

Nice Recorder
I ordered this recorder to learn how to play one. It is quality and sounds good. It fits in my hands like a recorder should. The color is nice (pink) and comes in a plastic case. The directions are not very clear and are of small font, so a bit hard to read. I’ll definitely need to go online for some lessons, but this recorder seems quality and should give me no problems that I can see. I would recommend it for beginners to anyone.

Beautiful Beginner Instrument!
I had a recorder when I was a kid and in recent years, I’ve been interested in collecting and learning more instruments. When I saw this recorder I was immediately drawn in by the elegant, professional color. I was worried that it’s photo quality might be an illusion, since the price was so reasonable, but that’s not the case at all. It has a decent weight to it and a beautiful sturdy build, more than I remember my childhood one having. It comes with a cleaning instrument as well as a brief beginner’s rundown of the notes. I haven’t played any proper songs yet (still learning the basics), but my mom was able to play a tune, so it definitely works lol Excited to keep exploring it!

I got this for sentimental reasons. When I was little in 7 grade my mom got me one, it was a Yamaha brand. I never learned how to use it, I learned a few things here and there, but I always wanted to play it. So, I got myself one and I am so excited to learn. This will make a great gift for kids. Toys are great, don’t take me wrong, but something like this is like an introduction to something they may really like and maybe be great at. It is fun and educational. Not to mention is good for their well-being. The benefit of learning an instrument at a young age, it develops their creative thinking skills. it can help them learn discipline. because it takes practice and dedication. This has a super affordable tag price. If you have a family with a lot of kids, this is not a brainer, you can give this to all the kids because is meant to be for all ages and you are going save tons of money, especially if you are on a budget. But the best part is that you can make a kid happy. Be the cool aunty or uncle or the cool family friend/ adopted family member.Never is too late to learn a skill. I think this is a fantastic gift too.I love it and I highly recommend it!

Brings back my childhood
Ever want to go back in time to elementary school when you had to learn the simpler things in life? We’ll look no further than this recorder. Now it comes in such fashionable colors I feel like a little kid again but you know more hip. Highly recommend. Sound quality is great. Durability also great as I accidentally dropped it the first time I got it

It’s a recorder.
Not sure why I did this to myself, but my six year old is really in to learning new instruments and I thought this would be a good idea. It’s cheap, it’s a fun color, and it sounds just as I remember the horrendous recorder sounding. Passage of parenthood I guess.

Great Affordable Basic Recorder for Kids (or adults!)
My daughter is learning how to play a recorder in school and wanted her own. The school was selling them for $12 – I found this one for half the price. I decided to give it a shot and it plays a good mellow tone (for a recorder, anyways! lol)It comes with a thin plastic case (this is the only part I think could really be improved, as I don’t think the case will last long), it comes with a cleaning stick (no fabric included) and also includes instructions that teach you finger positions in correspondence to notes on a staff. Aside from possibly getting a better case for this and a cloth to attach to the cleaning tool, this is really all you need to get started. Great buy!

Perfect for Kids!
Impressed with the quality of this recorder, I had hoped it wouldn’t be made of think plastic and I was in luck! Very thick and solid!

Sounds awesome!
I was a bit of afraid of buying a swan recorder after having the other brands but this one I think is betterthan the other brands I’ve had. I am thinking of buying another one but a different color.

Kids love them, parents less enthusiastic
This recorder I got as a nice intro to music for my seven year old daughter.Pros:She loves the pink colorFor being inexpensive the sound is goodThis is more complex then the recorder I played as a kid (some extra holes), this allows for more range of music. It is able to separate in 3 parts to make easy cleaning, and includes a cleaning rodShe quickly grabbed it and knew exactly how to play – super easy to useGood quality at a good priceConsRecorders and kids practicing any music will annoy parents – but she has fun with it and is maybe learning something so can’t be too down on thatOverall this is a great intro to music at an affordable price.

Well made
Got this for my granddaughter, who is in preschool. She uses it at home as a backup while leaving her school recorder in school. It’s well made and works well. Quality product at a fair price. Recommended.

Perfect for child’s school music class
We got this for my daughter to use in music class at her school. It is working perfectly so far. She can hold it easily and it produces clear notes. She also loves the bright pink color that it comes in.
