    Unique, fun & easy!

I bought this for my 11 yr old grandson, who is interested in music. He loves it! He’s had it for a few months now, and he’s still using it. He has learned to play the theme music from some of his shows and makes up songs to play on his own. He’s discovered that there are YouTube videos as well, that he can learn to play just about anything. Good purchase. My granddaughter now wants to try one, so I guess I’ll be ordering it again.

    moderately in tune

bought this as a toy, but had research if I could tune it if it wsa to be too bad.it is fine for use along studio recorded music. the kids/grown ups using it to play along won’t create a massive painful noise.A couple of keys aren’t quite in tune but nothing so bad I thought it was worth fiddling around with it.One or two keys are also muffled a bit.it’s fine for the money, it’s quite fun and not aggressive on th ears

    Cheap and excellent

This melodica is great! I bought this melodica at an even cheaper price than my previous one. This melodica is also really great and easy for beginners because it has the “do-re-mi” notes above the keys. When I opened the package, the product had some chemical smell but it got better after a while. The product came with the bag, 2 long pipe mouthpieces, 2 mouthpieces, and a small cloth. My product didn’t come with the user manual like it stated in its product description, which is a shame because I wanted to see if there was anything different about this melodica or if there was anything new. But overall, this is a pretty good product and all the keys make the right sound.

Just went to see one of my favorite bands from back in the day and decided I had to get this. Now I can play Fightin’ on the Same Side just like off their Amore album.

Not an expert, but this is a fun dispenser.

I don’t know how in-tune it is, but I know that it’s in-tune enough to be a blast. I would never expect a serious musical instrument at this price point, but it’s better than I thought it would be.

  9. Domenico Davide Vaccari

Buona per la scuola, intonazione approssimativa

E’ una diamonica scolastica, chiaramente economica. Segnalo che l’intonazione non è corretta, crescente su tutta la tastiera (verificato con accordatore digitale).

    Fun Little Thing

The media could not be loaded.

I’m far from an expert when it comes to Melodicas but this little unit is perfect. Affordable, functional and my kids enjoy it. It comes with a mouthpiece to blow directly into the melodica, but also two tubes so you can play it like a piano. That means at least 3 germaphobic people can use each one.It sounds like you’d expect. The carrying bag is a nice touch as well.

    decent quality

I used this as a coordination tool for my dad recovering from a stroke. I’m a musician so I can comment on the quality of the thing. When played at full volume it is about 10-15c sharp. When played as lightly as you can it is in tune. It’s easy to use and a lot of fun (for you, at least). My cat absolutely hates it

    melodica ok

One of the E keys is harder to play than all the other keys.

Love it! The E key is a harder to press, compared to all the other keys. I don’t know why. You have to blow a little harder for it. But all the other keys are good.

Look dude it’s so cheap, the keys might be uneven and it might be a professional spit collector but it’s so cheap that you should just shut up and buy it. The sound is so beautiful and cute that the build is not relevant whatsoever. Would recommend. Would rebuy. Beautiful sound.

Nice carrying bag and multiple tubes/mouth pieces. Highly recommend. And an amazing price for something so fun!

    Tonette for keyboard folks

I started playing a Tonette as a kid. That’s what you got a kid who showed interest in woodwinds. This sounds something like a Tonette and sets you back about the same cost wise. I purchased this for my wife. She and I play together and she loves this little keyboard. One reviewer mentioned that it was 30 cents sharp, mine too! However, I haven’t noticed that to be distracting at all when we play together and many wouldn’t notice that small a degree anyhow. My wife hasn’t mentioned it. If I didn’t have chromatic tuner on hand I might not have noticed. However, that and one slightly sticky key require a dropped star. There is a nice case, four mouth pieces, and a cleaning rag. The case is very nice. It is very hard to believe that this was delivered to the door for under $25! You can’t go wrong, what a great deal!

If you already know how to play a keyboard instrument you’ll pick this right up

Melodicas are a great instrument for noodling around, and this particular one will suit a musician well for a very reasonable price.I found the tone was very pleasing and dynamic. Unlike some reviewers I did not find it difficult to play two or three note chords. While the hand strap is a little tight (my hands are medium size; forget it if you have large hands!), the instrument is easy to carry and play. The two “snorkel” mouthpieces make it easy to lay this melodica on a table and experiment, and the two different short mouthpieces allow the traditional playing position. This instrument does have a moisture release key (a.k.a. “spit valve”), and I found the intonation to be well tempered and generally accurate. At under 50, this is a good value!

No Suprises, good sound and great fun.

What I liked about this what that it had a good amount of extra accessories that came in the bag, multiple pieces to help you keep it clean and it has a great sound and a great tune to it. The only thing I may have not liked is that some of the keys can feel a little clicky when you play them but for the most part that was not a big issue. This is a cool product for kids and fun loving adults the like. It’s inexpensive and the quality is good.

My daughter LOVES this melodica. In fact, her piano teacher loves it so much we bought him one as well. Great for beginners. I don’t know much about melodica so this isn’t an overly-technical review, but I consider the fact that her piano teacher likes it as a positive reflection on the quality of this product.

good value – but the tuning is not so good

Because of poor tuning of some of the reeds, I can only play this effectively in one or two keys. The key of C, in particular, is quite harsh because of out of tune octave-spaced C notes. Still, I am having fun with it. Learning to breath with phrasing in mind is a new challenge for me, a guitar player primarily.

  56. Old Ben

    Good value.

I’m pleased with this instrument, especially considering the price. I suspect one or two or the higher notes aren’t quite in tune, which is why I’ve given four stars, but they are close enough for a learner to find it playable.

This was a Christmas present for a 13 year old kid who loves music and playing/making ditties with GarageBand. I think he has played 12 straight hours today. Definitely his favorite gift. I had no idea what it was when he asked for one….so I’m glad Santa figured it out. Great little instrument. Thankfully, the sound isn’t annoying. Definitely a great purchase.

Like a spirometer only more fun.

I am a keyboard player and needed an unplugged alternative to travel. This is sturdy and sounds much like a harmonica (alas, no pitch bend). It does take a bit for me to push air through it, but as I need to work on my wind, it’s perfect. I did find that the songs I wanted to play required ONE MORE KEY – I should have bought the 37 key variety. Only criticism is a chemically plastic taste that I hope disappears soon.

    Not perfect but still fun

I’m happy I bought the smaller one. It already feels long with 32 keys and I don’t need to go very high! Another reason is that it takes more air for the high notes so I naturally don’t play too many of them. My high G latches onto the F# next to it and so it plays off key. This is either the plastic not cut properly or there’s something wrong inside. I was a little upset about that but for the price I didn’t think it was a big deal.I’ve only played Studio Ghibli, Final Fantasy 7, and Animal Crossing and they all sound very nice and pleasant. The tubes are easy to take off and I had no issues or problems with them as well as the case.

I love this instrument! I saw Jon Batiste play a solo with this instrument and was in love with the sound! Works well and a great sound for the price. I play a little piano and I sing, and have always wanted to try a wind instrument, this is a great start without spending a lot of money. YouTube videos were helpful in learning some techniques. It’s been fun playing with dynamics and articulation, and applying some singing concepts to playing. It’s a fascinating instrument. Great for adults and kids alike.

    Not for long car rides

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my niece. I knew my brother and his family had a long car ride back to their house after the Christmas party, which is why I chose this particular gift. It worked perfectly as a fun wind instrument for a beginner piano player, and as a method of torture for my younger brother on the long car ride home. That was my Christmas gift for myself.

The kids I bought this for just love this instrument! Within just a few days, they’d already used it to make their own music (their version of the Super Mario Bros songs). It’s easy to use, and very fun–for kids AND adults. I’ll admit that I took it out and played with it before giving it to the kids, and I had a blast with it too. I’ll probably buy another one just so I have one too!

    A nice entry-level instrument

My five star rating is based on the price. If you are looking to learn this novel instrument, this is a great place to start. Entry level instruments can be a gamble. You typically have to pay a decent amount just to get something reliable, and a lot of beginners fail because their instruments are just so bad. This is a decent entry-level hooter, and I’m happy I made the purchase. It doesn’t necessarily feel like a high quality instrument, but it sounds decent when you actually play it. It’s in key, and it has a good volume.I’ve played one other hooter. It was a Hammond that was considerably more expensive, but the differences were pretty apparent. The Hammond had a spit valve, which is something this one lacks. Also, I was able to figure out how to bend notes with the Hammond, though it was more difficult than a harmonica. I haven’t been able to figure that out with this melodica, though I have developed a way to compensate by doing quick hammer-ons when a bend is desired. For someone like me who might perform one song with this instrument down the road a ways, those two issues are not deal breakers. The third issue isn’t a dealbreaker, either, but it is the one thing that I really do wish the instrument could do better.Blowing chords takes a considerable amount more effort if you want to keep the same volume as the rest of the melody. For a novice player, you might not even notice. Heck, most novice players probably aren’t even playing chords. I’ve learned a few songs on this, but the one song I bought it for is a fairly simple note progression that has a couple of chords thrown in. You have to be careful to hit those chords just right or they will sound really weak. I am learning to get better that that, but the Hammond I played produced chords beautifully without really any extra effort. The Hammond melodica I’m comparing this to retails for $550. I believe it is the “top of the line” model, and it is made for performances. It even has a jack to hook it into an amplifier. This model is $30. If you’re learning the instrument, this is a no-brainer.If you already know the instrument, then you’re probably not reading this review.

BF loved it. My dog not so much

Bought as a bday gift. comes in a nice case, looks good, and sounds like what a melodica should sound like. I can’t attest yet to how easy it is to learn how to play it. Although, if you’re musically gifted or inclined I would say it would be fairly easy to play this. My bf was messing around with it and could already start figuring out melodies without sheet music. My dog has issues with loud and annoying noises. He hates this and flees the room when my bf starts playing it. So if you’re sensitive to noise or someone in your household is I would say make sure you have an area away from people where you can practice.

Cheap and a secondary to piano/woodwind/flute training.

Fingers are too big. But what should I expect since this is more proper for smaller hands. This one was just a tiny bit flat but was consistsant for all notes. A great buy but gotta have some training in woodwind as you got to have good breathing to play this consistently.

    So musically versatile!

My wife wished this for Christmas . She is an accomplished pianist so the only thing holding her back is breathe control. She picked it up and immediately started playing In-a-gadda-da-vita (my request) and jingle bells. She has been using YouTube instructional video’s to learn the nuances of the instrument like flutter tones, double tongue, triple tongue, and the very difficult-for-her-to-do bending of the notes. So musically versatile from waltz’s to Zydeco and everything in between. The best part about this is the mouth piece is detachable and therefore can be cleaned. So yeah.

It’s A Cheap Melodica (And I Love It)

I’m not exactly a pianist. Even on a traditional piano I don’t remember half of the keys. However, what I did know was how to blow air. The Melodica takes the keys of a piano and the air of a wind musician and combines them together. It is very fun and challenging! The sound quality isn’t the best, but you’re getting what you paid for.

First melodica so I can’t really say but it’s pretty easy to learn and fun to play. Though notes can be a tiny bit hard to play though i believes that’s because the keys are smaller than a regular piano so I wasn’t use to that but it’s all good.

I have wanted one of these for a long time but found them a bit high in price. This one is very reasonably priced, sturdy and has a good tone, and a nice number of different mouthpieces that let you play it as a wind instrument or a keyboard. It’s very hard to put down too!

Pretty worth it…too bad I cant play…. For Beginners? Not really…

Fun to mess around with. If you do not have musical experience with anything, this might not be the best instrument for you. I watched some videos, tried to copy them, since there were no melodica tutorials for songs. Failed in my attempts, but had some fun. Basics in piano are essential to get the best worth and entertainment.

  136. Bryan

    Good!

My son loves it so much, we’re almost begging him to stop when it’s getting late. Funny, but true! The sound is pretty decent, not like a crappy toy electric piano, more like a real musical instrument. I like the fact that you have to blow to get the sound, I think it’s a great thing to do to train your lungs, especially now, during the pandemic! There’s plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube, my son is watching them and playing daily now!

    No Volume Control

A fun toy for someone else’s kid. Yes, it’s a joy to play and learn. The multiple mouthpieces allow for a variety of options. But there is not really volume control. Better than a drum set, but the lowest level to make sound is nowhere near quiet. And it goes up from there if you blow harder. Yes, get it for somebody else’s kid, not your own, and you will be happy.

Sometimes I just want to screw around with keys without starting my GarageBand or moving from my desk. I keep this bad boy next to my workstation alongside my bass guitar and it’s great! I wouldn’t record with it but you could? Great value for your money. Easy to learn to use. The best part is that it has two of each mouth piece! Two tubes and two non-tube thingies. Sound quality can be a little meh, especially when you do stack thirds a million times but aside from that, great melodica. I’m taking it around the city to do some Christmas songs with friends!

Bought it as a gift for my musical Partner, and my partner absolutely loves it, if you have previous piano experience and any wind works instrument experience it’s SUPER easy to just pick up an play, which we really hoped it would be. But even if you don’t have previous experience (like me) it’s still really easy to learn and a lot of fun to just play, love that it comes with two air tubes, as well as a sturdy mouth piece that is almost sax shaped, that really lets you play the instrument in different ways.

My teenage son loves this instrument.Just get ready for the droning on all day of a kazoo sounding instrument. This was especially fun during the stay-at-home COVID period. However if you are buying this because your child wants to spend his time trying to learn to play it (rather than in front of video games), then it will get great use and is very much worth the ourchase. It came with extra tubes and mouthpieces which is always a plus! This is the perfect Melodica for newcomers and seasoned Melodica players alike. I would recommend this to everyone!

    In tune, loud

Limited to where it can be played it because it is loud, like a trumpet, but chords are not as loud. Requires breath control. Difficult to know where the notes are without using the extender hose which looks a little odd while using. With practice in a sound proof room, it could begin to sound very cool.

    Best accidental purchase to date

Had a bit of a fun night and accidentally ordered this. I didn’t remember until I got the notification that I had a package at the door. Imagine my confusion when I pulled out a piano with a mouthpiece. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to open it up and keep it. My husband plays harmonica (a little) and we are now forming a band. I can already sort of play Country Roads. 10/10 would recommend.

    Superb quality for price

The media could not be loaded.

I have played more expensive melodicas than this one in a variety of musical groups, so I was pleased to try it at such a low price. For just $15.98 I got an instrument that compared well against more expensive models, going up to over $30. Both my daughter and I liked this one better than her $35 model. It has an excellent tone quality, resonance, and response. By that I mean its tone is almost as beautiful and almost as full as the $100 melodica that I play. And it speaks quickly, especially compared to other lower-priced models.Like most melodicas it is tuned slightly sharp and I believe this may be intentional, since accordions sometimes are tuned that way for standing out in an ensemble. It did have some notes that were out of tune but not many; and in this price range they all seem to…which is why I would consider the instruments in this price range “introductory” and still give it a 5 star rating. The instrument came with 2 tubes, 2 short pipe mouthpieces, and wipe cloths.I could imagine performing on this introductory instrument. It is resonant, quick to respond, and fun to play. Excellent value for the price.

First melodica so I can’t really say but it’s pretty easy to learn and fun to play. Though notes can be a tiny bit hard to play though i believes that’s because the keys are smaller than a regular piano so I wasn’t use to that but it’s all good.

A little louder than I expected but still good.

It’s super easy to set up, but it’s a little louder than I imagined. The sound quality is good, but I bought it for my 8 year old and he plays it all the time and it can be heard from the next room easily and there isn’t really any way to muffle it. Not a big deal but if you’re looking for something quiet, this is not for you. Other than that it’s great.

Very pleased with quality and price. Loud and fun. Can master mix down to get recording you want.

Sounds a little toyish but sharp and clear with no missed notes or out of tune that I can detect. Very happy with what I got for the money. I wanted the original German one but this Chinese one is fine. Tons of fun. Loud. Wanted one every since I heard a few songs with it…reminds me of Ireland or Poland or The Hooter song, “and we danced.” Doesn’t seem to collect spit but has a rag. Two pipes and several plastic mouth pieces and a bag. Good value.

So yeah.

Arrivato puntualissimo.

The instrument is impressive. It looks well build and something both beginners and pros can use and make music with. The tubes are helpful and the mouthpieces allow musicians to master songs. The only drawback is that a songbook should be inculded with the instrument. The medloica itself is fun and has a nice sound.

Fun musical instrument, not professional, but more than a toy

Like a harmonica, this thing can produce a variety of tones with some practice. Although inexpensive, my copy produces pure single notes & with a lot of breath produces a good triad chord. My 4 note chords are weak on this baby, but the reeds are in good tune. Comes with nice cloth case & some extra tubes & mouth pieces. Maybe try this entry level product & if you like it & are having fun practicing every week, move up to a Hohner, Yamaha or Suzuki which will probably give you truer tones & better finger action.

I bought this for my 4 year old godson and had such a good time jamming with him that I bought myself one. This lil guy is fun and sounds decent considering the price. It’s probably a bit too tough to blow consistently for anyone under the age of 6, but should last into adulthood if they’re musically curious. It’s lightweight, well-made, cheap and in tune. No complaints here.

What a fun little instrument, that’s a breeze to pick up for anyone who knows piano!

We received this Melodica as a gift and my child absolutely loves it. The sound isn’t always as loud and clear you might hope, but it’s a really fun instrument to play and it builds confidence because it’s pretty easy to translate sinple songs into a Melodica tune. Sometimes it takes a little positioning so you can see what you are doing in the keyboard, but it’s totally doable. This particular Melodica is all plastic and the quality is about what you’d expect for the price Amazon has it advertised for, but I can honestly say, my child loves it. Often the choice is made to use the short mouth pieces rather than the white tubing because it’s a little cumbersome and requires extra blowing power to get that air in there but using the tubing does allow you to visualize the keyboard better. Anyway, this comes with everything you need and an awesome little canvas carrying bag with an adjustable strap as well as handles so in my mind, you can’t go wrong with this purchase. We definitely got more than the listed price in value just in the first month. Go for it & enjoy! PS There is a great German band of extremely talented on EVERY instrument, young musicians who jam out on the Melodica in some of their acoustic, public place, performances. That’s what got us interested in trying it as it is unique and different. Check out Henningfield May of Annen May Kanteriet jamming out on the Melodica. Its food for the musicians soul!!!

Product came in perfect condition, in the bag it’s supposed to come with. It came with two tube mouth pieces and three regular mouthpieces, and a cleaning cloth. The sound is great, and the instrument itself is very easy to pick up! My only complaints are 1) the strong plastic taste at first and 2) the melodica came in a comically large box, about three times the size of the bag. Otherwise, this instrument is amazing and probably the best thing I’ve purchased in a while!

He has learned to play the theme music from some of his shows and makes up songs to play on his own. He’s discovered that there are YouTube videos as well, that he can learn to play just about anything. Good purchase. My granddaughter now wants to try one, so I guess I’ll be ordering it again.

    It’s cool

The media could not be loaded.

First melodica so I can’t really say but it’s pretty easy to learn and fun to play. Though notes can be a tiny bit hard to play though i believes that’s because the keys are smaller than a regular piano so I wasn’t use to that but it’s all good.

Happy kid and great price !

I don’t know about sound quality but this was my kids favorite present. I get him an instrument every year. He has been wanting one for 2 years and the price is great for what we got. So happy with it!

Become the Most Hated Person in Your House

This thing is hilarious and loud and it works way better than I thought it would. Good craftsmanship. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to make some noise.

    Great Gift for the Grandsons

Bought our 8 and 10 years old grandsons this melodica. They are still learning how to play but they are having fun watching You Tube videos on how to play them.

Good, fun, and well made Melodica!

Got this for my youngest (22 now), she’s been playing piano for 17 years, and absolutely loves this, and the different mouth pieces. It’s been two weeks, I hear her playing it every day.

    Highly giftable!

Gave to a family friend for Christmas and she loved it!! All the other teens took turns playing it. Spit accumulates so keep that in mind LOL if the mouthpiece swings around you might get showered.

Tons of fun and great value

So far this has been a really fun little instrument to own. The included case is actually pretty high quality and I don’t see myself replacing it anytime soon. The sound is also surprisingly impressive for the price point. Chords sound pretty cool as well. 10/10 little instrument.

Fun, not well tuned, but a good value

Definitely fun to play. I found myself immediately regretting choosing a 32-key instrument instead of a 37 key. I also checked the tuning with a digital tuner, and some notes were over 10 cents off. But, it was cheap! And I think it’s better than I expected for the price.

Good instrument but i suck lol

Im having so much fun with my melodica it sounds really nice and ive made some good music with it. Personally im having trouble learning songs other than stuf ive just played around to find. I cant read sheet and looking for tabs gets confusing but learning to play isnt that hard just learning new songs really.

    A good musical toy

I would purchase this for a child. The tubes are a touch flimsy and the sound quality is okay. However, if you just want to join in with your musical friends, or build your homeschooler instrument armory, it is definitely a fun instrument and will improve your breath control.

    Start playing right away!

The instrument is impressive. It looks well build and something both beginners and pros can use and make music with. The tubes are helpful and the mouthpieces allow musicians to master songs. The only drawback is that a songbook should be inculded with the instrument. The medloica itself is fun and has a nice sound.

Highly exceeded my expectations. Great product!

This is the first Cahaya product I ever bought. I was looking for something to play around at home and have fun with. I honestly was expecting a toy for that price, and I was very happily surprised when I opened the bag, saw it, and especially tried it. Great dynamics capabilities, great sound and very easy and fun to use. It also came with different mouthpiece accesories/replacements, which is a great bonus! Needless to say I started using it to make videos on my social media and taking it to jam sessions 🙂

    I like this Melodica.

I like this melodica. Only one thing I would note is that if this is played for 20-30 minutes then the saliva gathers and comes out from the bottom part. Not sure if thats purposely designed that way.

Surprised at how great this sounds. It is easy to use and comes in a really nice quality carry bag. Two tubes and a mouthpiece for using it in different ways. Quality is better than expected also. Pleasantly surprised.
